Enchanted Forest Sour

Ingredients:

    •    2 oz Bewilder Be Wilder Whiskey

    •    ¾ oz fresh lemon juice

    •    ½ oz cherry syrup (recipe below)

    •    ½ oz simple syrup

    •    1 egg white

    •    3 fresh basil leaves (plus more for garnish)

    •    2 dashes Angostura bitters

    •    Ice

Instructions:

    1.    Muddle the herbs – In a shaker, gently muddle the basil leaves with cherry syrup and simple syrup to release the oils. 

•    ¾ oz fresh lemon juice

    •    ½ oz simple syrup

    •    1 egg white

    •    3 fresh basil leaves (plus more for garnish)

    •    2 dashes Angostura bitters

    •    Ice

Instructions:

    1.    Muddle the herbs – In a shaker, gently muddle the basil leaves with cherry syrup and simple syrup to release the oils.

    2.    Shake it up – Add whiskey, lemon juice, egg white, and bitters. Dry shake (without ice) vigorously for about 15 seconds to create foam.

    3.    Chill and dilute – Add ice and shake again for 15 more seconds.

    4.    Strain & serve – Double strain into a coupe or rocks glass.

    5.    Garnish & finish – Top with a fresh basil leaf and a skewered cherry.

Cherry Syrup Recipe:

    •    ½ cup fresh or frozen cherries

    •    ½ cup water

    •    ½ cup sugar

    1.    Heat all ingredients over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves and the cherries break down.

    2.    Simmer for 5 minutes, then mash the cherries and let them steep for 10 minutes.

    3.    Strain and cool before using.
